Hangar rockin'

ED eccomi di ritorno,da 800 km in due giorni a bordo della mia Chevy... il tutto per andare a uno degli appuntamenti , piu Rockabilleggianti, che ci siano....Si tratta dell' hangar rockin, un fantastico raduno, all'interno di un aeroporto.. con musica dal vivo , auto, stand e chi piu ne ha più ne metta, il tutto all'insegna dei Fifties, ovviamente.. qui alcune foto , m ne seguiranno altre.... p.s. gli aerei che ti decollano sopra la testa son davvero coreografici...

Jerry Lee e Myra

12, Dicembre 1957, all' apice della carriera musicale , "the killer" Mr. Jerry Lee Lewis, sposa la propria cugina di secondo grado , Myra Gale Brown, questo suscitò allora un grosso problema, non tanto perchè ella era la cugina, ma bensì perchè era 13nne...( Jerry Lee ne aveva 22 ) immaginate voi nel 1957 l'opinione pubblica che idea potesse avere avuto, per una tale scelta...

Diciamo che si cercò per un periodo di mettere a tacere tutto, questa situazione, andò avanti per circa un anno, fino alla tournè in Inghilterra e precisamente il 22 maggio del 1958.. appresa la notizia dai giornalisti... e messa sulla bocca di tutti, si creò uno scandalo tale da far vacillare la carriera i uno dei piu grandi, suonatori e creatori di rock'n'roll.

Tornato in patria ebbe un trattamento altrettanto severo e l'ostracismo arrivò all'ennesima potenza, iniziò il declino. Jerry Lee si ritrovò a suonare in piccoli localini, davanti a poche persone, a dover , sbarcare il lunario.......

Questo breve sunto... ( molto minimalizzato) per porre qualche quesito.. Primo, se jerry Lee, non avesse incontrato Myra o meglio se non l'avesse sposata, secondo voi... sarebbe stato il numero 1 ? (tenete presente che i suoi dischi era perennemente alle vette della classifica).

secondo... se fosse successo ai giorni nostri, che reazione avrebbe avuto l 'opinione pubblica ??

terzo... premesso che noi non giudichiamo nessuno, e che ognuno si vive la sua vita, voi come la pensate, punito o assolto ? Ultima cosa, Jerry Lee, dopo anni di ombra è riuscito a ritornare al suo splendore e a donarci ancora, quella musica che solo il suo talento poteva darci... ora mi chiedo, quanti altri, dopo tutto questo sarebbero rimasti in piedi ??? Lui si.. ed è arrivato a noi pochi mesi fa con il suo ultimo lavoro dal titolo (mai nome fu piu appropriato) THE LAST MAN STANDING........ un cd veramente fantastico con la collaborazione di alcuni grani della musica...

SUN RECORD

Parlare della Sun record è sempre cosa gradita, sarà che sono nostalgico, sarà che da li son passati alcuni dei miei artisti preferiti, ma, quando vedo il "Gallo" tra i raggi del sole.. mi viene sempre il buon umore.
La Sun record , nasce a Memphis , Tennessee nel febbraio del 1952, ad opera di Sam Phillips, che affittò un piccolo spazio, che adìbì a vari utilizzi, tra i quali, studio personale e sala di incisione, si dice che Sam Phillips era una persona che, tendenzialmente adorava ascoltare tutto cio che gli veniva proposto (o quasi). Memphis, allora era una buona piazza per Gospel, Blues, Hillibilly, Country e Western Swing. Non avendo la Sun record un genere ben definito ( come etichetta)nel 1954 si imbattè in un giovane, che suonava con un suo stile, qualcosa di nuovo, di mai ascoltato prima....( quantomeno nella versione di questo giovane).... pura "dimamite" usando uno slang dell'epoca... si trattava di Elvis Presley,vennero a seguire Johnny Cash, Carl Perkinas e Jerry Lee Lewis, queste quattro persone furono poi soprannominate dalla stampa, "Million dollar Quartet".. ovviamente c'erano altri personaggi come Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, Bill Justis, Harold Jenkins (a.k. Conway Twitty) ed altri grandi talenti musicali che sarebbe lungo elencare. A questo punto la Sun record, venne conosciuta come un etichetta produttrice di un sound particolare, una miscela esplosiva denominata ROCKABILLY..
In quel periodo , musicalmente non c'era un largo uso della batteria, molti generi musicali ne facevano a meno, questo non accadeva nel rockabilly, per il quale la batteria aveva un ruolo fondamentale, ancora una volta la Sun Record aveva trovato un suono caratteristico , facilmente associabile ad essa. Devo dire che a tutt'oggi dopo ben 50 anni, ascoltare un brano con etichetta SUN è un piacere immenso. Un sound davvero inconfondibile per gli appassionati del genere, ma che consiglio vivamente a tutti.
